Community-Based Adaptation to drought and floods in southern Malawi

The target group is the socio economically poor community in Traditional Authority Tengani, in the Nsanje district of southern Malawi, who are predominantly farmers and very vulnerable to drought and floods. The project used the LOCATE methodology to identify vulnerability hotspots, partner organisations, communities and the project ideas, including: soil and water conservation; use of solar power for groundwater irrigation; promotion of drought tolerant crop and crop diversification; and water harvesting techniques. Participatory Video (PV) was used to monitor and evaluate progress made in the project.
