Recently, my focus has been on the potential of participatory planning and social learning processes in adaptation and as a means of accounting for power and social justice in resilience thinking and adaptive governance. My work is informed by an interest in human rights-based and social movement framings of development. As a development practitioner (with the NGO Practical Action, up to 2012) my work centred on research for programme and policy influencing in relation to community-based adaptation and food and agriculture.
